Been MIA (missing in action) in San Francisco for the past weekends, I've finally made a comeback this weekend. Despite the failure and disappointment at this "Hong Kong Restaurant" in the middle of friggin' no where in Los Altos and paid way too much hard-earned dollars ($32 for A fish?? u gotta be kidding me), Saturday nite dinner @ Meze made a good call (www.mezessf.com). It is our choice of six-course prix menu and we ordered one bottle for red and white each. I'm usually not a red person, but I had to admit Meze has really great choices of red. We ordered a bottle of 98 Merlot (Adriana), very soft and tastes wild forest berries and mild oak, I was never so drawn to red. The ambiance was very layback, typical Mediterranean lifestyle infusion. Service was attentive, each plate was served on the perfect timing, and waiters were warm and welcoming. At the last dish, everyone decided we'd had way too much olive oil, we wanted something light and refreshing, we passed Greek pastry and went to cross street to get authentic dessert. It was a even nicer place, quiet and tasteful, truly dessert place though i forgot what it's called.
Dinner went on 3 hours and finally we made it to 10 o'clock. We hopped from Gravity to Matrix and finally, quarter to 11 people decided to call it a night, no fun! that's how it is when u hang with older and "married" couples. My truly Greek friend was back in town from Chicago, and he and his gangs were at this bar nearby, I hopped in the car and headed to join them. Unfortunately, when I got there, no one seemed sober enuf to recognize me and all my Greek friend wanted to do was smooching. I had one chic drink and good-byed to everyone and drove my ass 1 hour home. I was a fairly low-key evening, and yes, kinda boring!
This weekend there was a big gay parade in the city, supposedly tons of naked butts and really ripped gay men. Friend said he saw dyke on the bike but yet no one had picked him up which made him a little bit defeated though he claimed a straightforward sexual orientation.
I noticed my good four-week spirit started to plummet this weekend in association with my PMS. All I can look forward to is the river trip coming up in a couple weeks. Tune in:)
