LeSportsac, Inc., was founded in 1974 and currently employs personnel at its New York World Headquarters, sales offices, shops and manufacturing and distribution facilities. In 1975, the Company revolutionized the accessories industry with the introduction of the Classic Collection of fold-in-a-pouch ripstop parachute nylon bags and luggage. Thirty years later the LeSportsac bag has become an American classic around the world.
The Classic Collection has established LeSportsac as the leading American brand of casual nylon bags in the U.S., Asia and Europe. The Collection's hallmarks are sporty American styling, a wide color and print assortment, lightweight functionality and proprietary high performance fabrics and hardware. The product line includes a complete range of luggage, totes, handbags, messenger bags, school bags, backpacks, sport specific bags, attaches and accessories.
LeSportsac's primary U.S. distribution is through Federated Department Stores. Internationally, LeSportsac sells through exclusive distributors in Europe and Asia to department stores including Harrods, House of Fraser, Seibu, Takashimaya and Isetan. LeSportsac is also carried at such prestigious specialty stores as Colette in Paris and Henri Bendel's in New York.
LeSportsac has licensed shops in Hawaii, Guam, Tokyo, Osaka and Hong Kong and five company-owned stores in the U.S. The shops are located in prestigious retail locations including SoHo in New York City, the Ala Moana and Royal Hawaiian Shopping Centers in Honolulu, Tokyo's Harajuku district and Landmark in Hong Kong.
The Company is organized in seven groups: Product Development, Manufacturing and Distribution, North American Wholesale, International Wholesale, Travel Retail Wholesale, Marketing and Retail.
The Product Development Group operates from LeSportsac's design studio in New York City and from the Tennessee factory's prototype department. The Manufacturing and Distribution Group is headquartered in Dandridge, Tennessee with additional plants in Hot Springs, North Carolina and two plants in Stearns, Kentucky. The North American, International and Travel Retail Wholesale Groups are responsible for all sales functions and are based at New York headquarters with additional sales offices in Honolulu and San Francisco. The Marketing Department is also based in New York. The New York-based Retail Group operates the company-owned shops and coordinates the licensed shops.
LeSportsac is sold in over 15 countries worldwide including Italy, U.K., France, Sweden, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, Colombia and Saudi Arabia.
