Sweatshop Workers - We Are Better Off!(11)

I took this photo in another factory, run by a Taiwanese, in Dongguan, China. The white machine in front of the window is the air-conditioner and everyone in the room can use it at any time, though they have to pay for the electricity. One air-con in each room. Workers here don't have to share their bed with others and it's free. They eat the same things in the same dining hall with the management and free of charge. Moreover, the average wage of new employees is about seven to eight hundred RMB. With the concerns and efforts from NGOs, human/labor right groups, and so forth, their lives are getting better. There's still hope for them.

Let's put ourselves in their shoes, and try to feel how they feel. Is living wage too much to ask for? Is a decent working environment too much to ask for? Perhaps not.
