肇事的王姓男子供稱和朋友到夜市喝酒，自認為意識清醒才開車回家。他酒測值高達0.56，被依公共危險罪移送高雄地檢署偵辦。
高雄鳳山鳳崗所長施東祈說，「要右轉行進的時候不幸擦撞到機車，超過0.25本分局依法移送法辦。」
酒駕事件頻傳，高雄警方一連三天，加大力道執行酒駕路檢勤務，希望降低酒駕交通事故。
高雄苓雅分局副大隊長吳武煌說，「高雄市111年迄今，取締酒後駕車有2540件，酒駕交通事故比去年同期，減少12件下降百分之14。」

警方不定期加強臨檢力道，跟去年同期相比，酒駕案件有稍微降低。除了希望遏止酒駕歪風，更希望用路人謹守喝酒不開車的規範。
