杉林溪獨步全台的櫻花倒影絕美。（杉林溪園區提供）228連續假期即將來臨，南投縣有多處賞櫻景點歡迎遊客前來，其中杉林溪森林生態渡假園區種植的粉紅椿寒櫻目前正值盛開，在園區溪邊兩旁綻出繽紛花海與溪中倒影形成絕佳美景，很值得觀賞，同時杉林溪獨步全台的冬季神木螢賞螢活動也已展開，更是吸引遊客想要一睹真面目。
杉林溪森林生態園區人員表示，該園內的櫻花除有原生種緋寒櫻外，栽種最多的是粉紅椿寒櫻及白色霧社櫻共約2000株、另有大島櫻、普賢象櫻、枝垂櫻等，今年櫻花目前已經完全盛開，最佳賞花期即日起到228連續假期。

杉林溪為了營造豐富的優美景觀，6年前開始推動「櫻花河岸」計畫，在溪流兩旁沿岸種滿粉紅色的椿寒櫻，6年來櫻花順利茁壯成長，今年溪流兩岸爆開的櫻花，呈現在平靜的溪流水面的倒影，遊客前往觀賞滿山滿谷櫻花的同時，還可欣賞到全台灣獨一無二的「櫻花河岸」美景，再加上美艷的郁金香與牡丹花同時盛開，228連假前是觀賞櫻花的最佳的時間，也可分享杉林溪百花齊放的盛宴。

該園指出全台目前螢火蟲有60多種，雖然一年四季都應能賞螢，但礙於光害、環境被破壞等種種因素，除了4至6月間，其他季節每每不易看到成群的螢火蟲。杉林溪森林生態園區近年來，致力推展環境教育及生態保育，在嚴禁農藥及減少光害等措施，保護螢火蟲棲地下，終於復育出冬季稀有的冬天螢火蟲「神木螢」。

每逢2月中旬神木螢大量出現，從入夜開始在森林邊緣，神木螢於森林底層草叢中緩緩升起，飄逸如黃綠色螢光絲帶，閃爍飛舞於森林間，不過其活動時間並不長，最活躍的出現時間在天黑後約一小時，超過夜間8時後即越來越少，因此賞螢的時間要提早。
杉林溪園區於自19日起安排觀賞冬季螢火蟲導覽解說行程，讓遊客白天觀賞櫻花、夜間欣賞冬季稀有螢火蟲，且不另收費用，提供「加值不加價」服務，並呼籲遊客秉持「愛牠就不要傷害牠」原則，讓杉林溪這處冬季賞螢秘境，能達到生態資源永續經營目的。
