有兩個奇怪的字，奇怪、有趣又好用。
第一個是”inasmuch” 大家不要以為我漏打了空白間，這真的是inasmuch而不是in as much。inasmuch要加as 一起使用，意思是由於、鑑於，例如Inasmuch as he died, I abandoned the claim.
大家如果用得太多because，不防多用些其他代替吧，例如since及as。正經一點的，可以用上面介紹的inasmuch，或者whereas。
第二個是insofar, 這也是加as 一起使用的，意思是「在這個範圍內」，例如I will help you insofar as I can. 這個意思如果要香港的中學生寫，相信會寫成If I can, I will help you. 那就搞笑了。
另一個例子是愛恩斯坦Albert Einstein的名句。很多基督徒以為他是位基督徒，但這其實是一個不美麗的誤美，因為事實上他講過以下一段話：
I don’t try to imagine a personal God; it suffices to stand in awe at the structure of the world, insofar as it allows our inadequate senses to appreciate it.
中間也有 insofar 一字。
