此首《Even the Bad Times Are Good》原是被寫來給英國女歌手Sandie Shaw參加1967的歐洲歌唱大賽用的，但未獲青睞 ( Sandie Shaw以另一首《Puppet on a String》參賽，獲得冠軍。)，之後此曲很快地就被英國樂團The Tremeloes撿去唱，並於1967年中作為單曲發行，在英國排行榜打入前10名( # 4 )，在美國告示牌則是第44名。

The Tremeloes成立於1958 ( 之前團名為Brian Poole and The Tremeloes，但Brian於1966離開故而改為現在的團名。)，1962，曾與The Beatles ( 披頭合唱團 ) 同時參加Decca唱片公司的試唱，結果是The Beatles被摒棄而簽了The Tremeloes。由Beatles日後的成就來看，當時唱片公司真可謂是「目睭糊到蜆仔肉」。1967，The Tremeloes翻唱美國合唱團體The Four Seasons於1964發行的B面歌曲《Silence is Golden》，雖也採用原唱的編曲和唱法，未料竟然爆紅，除奪得了告示牌排行榜的第11名，同時獲得銷售超過百萬張的「金唱片」，自此也成了該團的招牌歌。

1970，也是樂手的英國音樂人Jeff Christie寫了一首《Yellow River》交給The Tremeloes來唱，Tremeloes確實也已錄製了，但之後想想該曲過於熱門，不太適合該樂團的曲風，意思等於是退貨了。Jeff Christie無奈下只好將磁帶中原主唱的聲音給消除，再換成由自己主唱，又另找了二人組成了Christie樂團，並以此團名發行了該首《Yellow River》，1970，該曲一舉奪得了英國排行榜的冠軍。明明是已經錄好了的歌卻還要往外推，對此， The Tremeloes應該是扼腕不已。

此曲大意應該是說，只要心中有企盼 ( 尤其是對愛情 )，即使周遭的環境再惡劣，也是可以不在意、不困擾，而努力奔向將愛人，將之擁入懷抱。
