We saw leaves go to glory, 我们看着秋叶日渐绚烂，
Then almost migratory 然后，几乎像候鸟一般
Go part way down the lane, 沿着街巷各自吹散，
And then to end the story 最终，被一整天的暴雨
Get beaten down and pasted 打落, 蔫贴在地上，
In one wild day of rain. 而故事就此划上句点。
We heard “‘Tis over” roaring. 耳边传来”已逝”的哀叹，

Oh, we make a boast of storing, 哦，我们只顾着累积、
Of saving and of keeping, 收藏、储备，自鸣得意，
But only by ignoring 却不愿理会
The waste of moments sleeping, 多少沉睡的光阴蹉跎，
The waste of pleasure weeping, 多少哭泣的欢愉枉费；
By denying and ignoring 也不愿正视
The waste of nations warring. 有多少在战争中失落。
