1976，美國藝人 ( 歌手、詞曲作者與演員 ) Kris Kristofferson發行了一張專輯《Surreal Thing ( 離奇、荒誕、超現實的事物 )》，儘管在鄉村榜上的名次不差 ( # 17 )，卻是負評連連，除了和他之前的熱門曲《Help Me Make It Through the Night》、《Me and Boggy McGee》等做比較，加上他的那些「非法鄉村」的好友們在同年發行的專輯《Wanted ！The Outlaws》，成為了第一張銷量超過百萬的白金鄉村專輯。 一般認為，Kristofferson的這張專輯表現不佳，應是將大部分的心思都放到演戲上去了。
同樣是在1976，Kris Kristofferson與同是歌手及演員的Barbra Streisand，演出了一部改編自1937的同名電影《A Star Is Born ( 一個巨星的誕生，後又在2018被改編成由Lady Gaga主演的音樂電影 )》，電影是叫好又叫座，除了贏得奧斯卡「最佳原創歌曲」獎及5座金球獎 ( 含Kris Kristofferson獲得的音樂或喜劇類的最佳電影男主角獎 )，Barbra Streisand也因演唱電影主題曲《Evergreen》贏得了「最佳年度歌曲」與「最佳流行女歌手」的兩座葛萊美獎。
Barbra Streisand最為知名的歌曲當然是1973的《The Way We Were》( 往日情懷 )，也是她和Robert Redford主演的同名電影的主題曲。台長我當年不怎麼喜歡聽抒情歌曲，卻也被電視等播放轟到不熟悉也不行。另覺得Streisand並非美女級的，怎麼會紅成那樣？後再看她曾經的羅曼史( Who Dated Who )，除了兩次婚姻，另和26位男士有傳過緋聞，令人驚訝的是總統Bill Clinton和英王King Charles III竟也名列其中， Kristofferson自然也未成漏網之魚。
此首《It's Never Gonna Be the Same Again》為專輯中唯一釋出的單曲，卻和排行榜完全無緣，甚至被稱為「無人問津」。Kristofferson的嗓音也倍受批評，有說常顯得「笨拙不堪」，也有說像是一個「焦躁不安的霧號」。或許，此曲能有更好的編曲及演唱者，也不失為一首好歌。歌曲述說的是情侶間的感情破裂，甚至到連朋友都做不成了，是首愛情悲歌。
2024，Kris Kristofferson在他夏威夷的家中過世，享壽88，家屬並未公布死因，唯 Kristofferson在生前要求將Leonard Cohen的歌曲《Bird on the Wire》的前3句歌詞刻在他的墓碑上 ：
Like a bird on the wire 就像是站在電線上的鳥兒 ( 意味仍受到某些牽絆，未能任意飛翔？)
Like a drunk in a midnight choir就像是在午夜唱詩班中的醉漢 ( 行為與社會所認知的格格不入？)

結果由於家屬並未舉辦公開的葬禮，他本人也已選擇火化，骨灰由家屬妥善保留，並未有實體的墓碑，故此3句歌詞最後並未刻在他的墓碑上。
