這首《Shame on the Moon》一聽即為Bob Seger式的風格，卻意外的非Seger所寫，而是翻唱鄉村歌手/詞曲作家Rodeny Crowell於1981發行同名專輯中的歌曲。Seger版在1982推出，獲得美國告示牌熱門榜的第2名。值得一提的是，Seger的好友--老鷹 (Eagles) 合唱團的老大Glenn Frey也在此曲中參與合音。Rodeny Crowell之前雖出過幾張專輯，多首歌曲也曾被知名歌手翻唱，而均未能有佳績，此曲Seger版的成功，也終於讓他「一夕成名」。

看歌名，會覺得「月亮有何好無恥或丟臉的」？其實這首歌的內容到底是在講些什麼，連許多老外都不太有把握。有人認為第一段是針對女性的交友提醒，第二段則是對男生，一旦內心接受了對方，一定要保持頭腦清醒，尤其是當「天上掉下來禮物」時，而看來多數的男人還是會把持不住。第三段說的是周遭的誘惑實在太多了，女生很容易就會出軌。無論是男或女生在外「偷吃」，解嘲的託辭都是「怪只能怪夜深了，一切都是月亮惹的禍」。
