今天在車上聽ICRT，忽然傳來一陣熟悉的旋律，咦 ~ 這不是鳳飛飛的《你家大門》嗎？歌曲結束後DJ介紹歌名是《I'm Gonna Knock on Your Door》。我真的不太記得是否曾聽過此英文版的，而看來鳳飛飛的台版應是改編自此曲。

這首歌是由美國合唱團體The Isley Brothers於1959首錄發行。接下來14歲的青少年演員Eddie Hodges也在1961推出他的版本，除了在告示牌排行榜拿下了第12名，也成為了他的熱門流行曲。

Eddie Hodges在10歲 ( 1957 ) 時首度參與百老匯的音樂劇《The Music Man》的演出，此劇的音樂專輯讓他在1959共同獲得了一座葛萊美獎，也成為了在他的故鄉---密西西比州獲得葛萊美獎的第一人。Eddie Hodges曾演出過多部電影，而最讓人記得的恐怕就是1960改編自馬克吐溫小說的《頑童歷險記》( The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn )。60年代末期，Eddie Hodges自軍中退伍後回到好萊塢，卻對表演事業感到幻滅，故決定重返大學校園，修讀心理方面的課程，還拿到MS學位。之後即從事心理健康諮詢的工作，並在此領域多年直至退休。

這首《I'm Gonna Knock on Your Door》後來也經多人翻唱，其中包含Osmond家庭最小的弟弟Jimmy Osmond，1974獲得英國單曲排行榜第14名 ( 唱得不錯 )。另在1972至1974期間，在新加坡發展的印尼女歌手Ervinna亦翻唱此曲，或這也是會被改編成國語版的重要因素。
