昨天講到廖文毅，我想要在這裡說明：〈詳細情形請參閱拙著：《臺灣歷史全集》〉
D、廖文毅回臺的意外收穫——臺灣媒體的大肆報導〈他的美國太太和兒女已回美國，兒女目前大概還在美國生活〉
一九六五年五月十四日廖文毅返回臺灣，結束了他流亡海外十八年的歲月，當天廖氏由調查局第三處長毛鍾新親自陪同，搭機由東京回到臺北的松山機場，國民黨政府不但安排黨國大老谷正綱等多人和臺籍的豬八戒附庸們如黃朝琴、丘念台、劉啟光、羅萬俥、游彌堅、李萬居、、、等人，到松山機場歡迎廖氏的「反正來歸」。
並且例外的安排所有的媒體記者當場報導，尤其電視節目幾乎全部暫停，不斷的重覆報導和播放廖氏返臺的畫面。
中國國民黨政府所以會如此盛大的場面來歡迎廖氏返臺，說穿了不外因為廖氏乃領導臺灣獨立運動最堅持、最長久、最高知名度的第一人，如今他竟願意「棄暗投明、反正來歸」，國民黨當然視之為最後的勝利者，欣喜若狂的大加慶賀和宣傳。
事實上，在以往國民黨政府對於有關臺灣獨立運動的一言一行，都採取百分之百的嚴密封鎖政策，因此，所有的政治犯、思想犯在報紙上、電視上根本都不會報導，連隻字片語都沒有，致使臺灣人民都無從得知有關臺灣獨立運動的情形和人物詳情。
廖文毅的其人其事，在臺灣的報紙和電視大大的報導，喧囂了一陣子，等於是替臺灣獨立運動大大的宣傳一番，許多的臺灣人民這時才如夢初醒一般，知道原來在日本尚有個『臺灣民主共和國』，總統就是廖文毅先生。
這是『臺灣獨立運動』意外的收穫一一讓全臺灣人民知道，尚有很多臺灣人在世界各地為臺灣獨立建國運動努力，奮鬥不懈。
也就是因此，我才會有在臺灣既然不能招攬到同志，只好想要到國外，加入臺灣獨立建國運動組織的想法，這也是不得不的做為。
