中客來台人數減少，主要發生在520政黨再輪替以來的這幾個月，其原因路人皆知，也就是中國當局故意給蔡政府難堪，技術性阻撓中國旅客出團。2008年以前，中客來台人數每年只有三十幾萬，但馬英九主政期間，中國給予台灣觀光讓利，使得中客增加了十倍，在2015年突破四百萬。遊覽車一車車載來中客，吃飯購物遊覽與住宿，離去後留下大把人民幣的景象，讓台灣觀光業飽嚐中客湧入的好處，卻也養成倚賴心理，於是當中國這幾個月限縮中客來台，部分只做中客生意的業者便難以生存。
中國對中客出團來台的政治干預，短期內如果不能降低，中客來台人數勢必繼續減少，然而如果因為這樣，就要求政府改變立場，用政治上的讓步繼續換取觀光上的讓利，未免因小失大。中客當然重要，台灣必須營造歡迎對岸觀光客的環境與氛圍，但只要中客來台多寡，受制於中國當局的主觀意思，台灣的觀光業就不能對中客過度仰賴，而是必須開發其他客源。這幾個月部分觀光業者因中客減少而遭受損失，正是一種脫癮症狀，政府提撥三百億元幫助業者度過難關，用意也在此，接下來整個觀光產業與相關政府部門必須思索，如何吸引中客以外的更多客源。
分析今年來台旅客數量可以發現，成長最多的是韓國旅客，一個月比去年同期增加了三萬人以上。為什麼成長這麼多？是台灣針對韓客做了什麼招商舉動嗎？顯然不是，而是韓劇襲台與台灣藝人周子瑜在韓國爆紅，帶動兩國粉絲相互朝聖的結果。以韓國的地理位置與消費能力，來台韓客還有極大的成長空間，台灣政府與民間都須更加努力。
韓國觀光業為了吸引中客，做了多少努力？仁川機場的免稅店櫃姐，首爾昌慶宮的導覽人員，各個能講流利的京片子，更不用說隨處可見的中文旅遊標示了。反觀台灣，有沒有做好迎接韓客的準備？台灣有多少人會講韓語，又有多少景點做了韓文標示？韓國人對台灣美食小吃相當有興趣，連泡麵都非常喜愛，但台灣夜市有沒有吸引韓客的企圖？還有相當大的努力空間。
另外一個值得台灣觀光業繼續開發的國家是日本。雖然日本每年來台旅客已經超過百萬，但依然有潛在的龐大觀光族群未被台灣人重視，也就是三千多萬的日本退休老人家。為了減少養老支出，日本政府鼓勵老年族群出國長住，這些老人家到了國外，一住就是幾個月，消費能力不差。然而相對於日本年輕人把台灣當成最愛造訪的國家，日本老人家最常長住之處卻是東南亞。台灣不管在語言、文化、飲食與對待日本人的態度，甚至敬老氛圍，都比其他國家更適合日本老人家來台長住，但政府與業者在這方面做得太少，尤其這幾年把目光投向中客以後，嚇跑了不少怕吵怕髒的日本旅客，得不償失。
除了日韓旅客，東南亞與歐美國家旅客也必須列為招商重點，也都還有很大的成長空間。台灣的良好治安、人民的友善、飲食文化的豐富與故宮的寶物，都是吸引觀光客的優勢所在，但國際上還有非常多國家的人民，不曉得台灣在哪裡，也不知道台灣有什麼好玩，都需台灣人多加宣傳。
另外一個比較敏感的觀光議題是，國外城市都有豐富的夜生活，但來台旅客，晚上就只能逛夜市吃小吃。台灣要不要開放賭場？有沒有可能設立紅燈區？全世界的觀光大城都有這類五光十色的設施吸引觀光客，台灣要不要跟進，也值得台灣人思索。

過去長達8年的時間，大陸房地產持續好長一段榮景，各地出現大量空殼建商。然而，隨著泡沫化風險升溫，重慶市市長黃奇帆日前鬆口，未來3年政府將著手清理這些空殼建商，預計有1500家關門大吉。
大陸房市投機風氣濃厚，據陸媒統計，全大陸目前約有13萬多家房地產商，全世界最多；按照13億人口來計算，平均每萬人就有一家房地產商。其中，重慶現在有3100家房地產商，但當地9成以上的建案開發、施工以及銷售，集中在500家，顯見其餘1600家都有可能是空殼公司。
眼下大陸多個城市先後祭出限購或限貸令，重慶雖未跟進，但已經決定清理房地產「殭屍」企業。黃奇帆透露，未來3年內，重慶市計畫每年關閉500家房地產企業，3年累計共1500家。
黃奇帆認為，雖然近幾年企業註冊規定不斷放寬，但仍必須加強監管，避免不法事件發生。他說，當房地產市況佳時，這些空殼公司可能會「集資亂搞」；而當市況差時，可能引發資金鏈斷裂的危機，連帶成為社會不穩定的源頭。
另外，為了避免房地產商炒作地價，重慶市計畫對所有參與土地拍賣招標的企業，進行資金來源審核。黃奇帆指出，經查實資金來源中涉及高利貸，就取消該企業的競拍資格。
