南方民主同盟新聞台 南方民主同盟是香港首個為爭取種族平等的政黨，現約有600多名成員。成員有本地華人、尼泊爾裔港人、巴基斯坦裔港人和印度裔港人，擔當行政總裁一職是本地華人龍緯汶。在2003年10月，一群對政治有熱誠的南亞裔人士有感少數族裔在港生活困難，決定聯合認同他們的華人籌組政黨，直接向政府表達訴求。「南同盟」現已致力擴展規模，並且會諮詢專家分析選區情況和政綱，希望循序漸進成為一個全面和穩定的政黨。

其中一位被入境處扣留的南亞裔香港人的母親Mrs. Limbu Genu 的講詞：

I am Mrs. Limbu Genu. I am born in Hong Kong. My whole family had moved to Hong Kong from Nepal. My son is Mr. Gun Raj Rai, 25 years old. He came to Hong Kong in 2002.

2004, he had been in the prison (four years sentence) because he fought against his girl friend. His sentence was finished 23th June 2007.

In the prison, he was very sorry about what he had done. He behaved well. We accept him and decide to live with him again after his release. The Chief Executive of Hong Kong Community Development Network, Mr. James Lung Wai Man, also promises to find a job for him. We are ready to begin a new life with him.

When the Immigration Department tells us, they want to send my son back to Nepal, I thinks that it is the end of the world. My son has not killed anyone. Why cannot the Immigration Department give my son a chance to begin a new life?

Legislator Mr. Leung Yiu Chong and Mr. James Lung Wai Man, have written letters to the immigration department for my son. However, up to now, there are no replies.

I do not know when the Immigration Department will set my son free. According to my son, about 12 South Asians are in the Immigration Department Detention Center now. Some of then had been here for more than two years.
Why my son needs to lose his freedom again endlessly after he had finished his sentence? My son, with the 11 South Asians will start a hunger strike on 1st August 2007. I support him. I am also worried about his health.

Our whole family members are supporting him. None of our whole family members are in Nepal. We do not want him to stay in Nepal alone. We can guarantee that if he can stay in Hong Kong, and if he commit any crime again in the future. We will immediately kick him back to Nepal. If my son has been sent back to Nepal, who can take the responsibility of the life safety of my son? Please help my son.
