根據伊斯蘭教人士表示，美國海軍航空母艦以海葬方式，將【蓋達恐怖組織】(Al-Qaeda)首領【奧塞馬賓拉登】(Osama bin Laden)海葬，違反了伊斯蘭教義，可能將嚴重激怒【蓋達恐怖組織】(Al-Qaeda)武裝分子，招致展開對美國本土，以及境外，包括：駐外國大使館、境外美僑等，甚至於機場、地鐵等重要據點，發動更激烈的報復行動。
根據某外電報導指稱，關於美國海軍航空母艦對【蓋達恐怖組織】(Al-Qaeda)首領【奧塞馬賓拉登】(Osama bin Laden)進行海葬一事。
多數的多伊斯蘭教學者異口同聲表示，海葬是一種相當侮辱性的埋葬方式﹔其中，伊斯蘭教的傳統埋葬方式是採取土葬模式，將屍體埋葬在墳墓裡，並且讓屍體的臉部朝向麥加的方向。
伊斯蘭教學者認為，伊斯蘭教進行海葬儀式，只有在非常特殊的情況下，例如穆斯林突然在船上去世而無法進行土葬，才被允許採取海葬。

伊拉克伊斯蘭教學者阿卜杜勒．薩塔爾．賈那比強調，美國海軍航空母艦對【蓋達恐怖組織】(Al-Qaeda)首領【奧塞馬賓拉登】(Osama bin Laden)進行海葬儀式，嚴重侮辱穆斯林，這是無法被伊斯蘭教接受的。
