The Legend still goes on…
Star Wars, an everlasting legend, is full of and composed of a large number of ideas of Taoism and Christianity. The Force can be regarded as the Tao, Yin-Yang in Taoism as well as Jesus Christ of Christianity. The Jedi Masters are similar to the Tao masters. The idea of anti-war reveals in the Tao-te Ching. Besides, both Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker are Christ-like figures. Anakin is a child from a virgin birth which means a chosen one; Luke is a hero who leads people to the right and light path. What’s more, Darth Vader is similar to Satan. These evidences strongly declare the close relationship of Star Wars, Taoism and Christianity.
I have shown how correlative Star Wars, Taoism and Christianity are by illustrating so many quotations from the movies and the Tao-te Ching and examples to compare the movies with Taoism and Christianity. Taoism and Christianity can make the audience closer to George Lucas’s outer-space fantasies, Star Wars. When enjoying the movies, at the same time, the audience should know the inner meanings of Star Wars that George Lucas tries to tell because they are the souls of Star Wars. Feel the Force by hearts, and then everyone can see the real Star Wars, a movie with religious and philosophy teaching. May the Force be with you.
