美國與中國今天（8月23日）將展開最新一輪的貿易談判，不過由於各方對於能否談出結果沒有抱太大期望，投資人觀望氣氛濃厚，今天美股收盤呈現漲跌互見，倒是標普五百指數自2009年3月以來，已經有9年半的時間沒有暴跌超過20%，創下最長牛市紀錄。
面對中美最新一輪貿易談判在即，8月22日，華爾街股市漲跌互見，標普五百小跌1.14，但由於已經連續3453天，大約9年半的時間沒有暴跌超過20%，創下最長牛市紀錄。
回顧2009年3月9日，那史達克交易所主席馬多夫，因設下龐氏騙局，讓眾多大型金融機構損失超過500億美元，遭居家軟禁，而多位財經專家也對當時的經濟狀況提出警告。
由於華爾街才剛受到2008年金融大海嘯衝擊，道瓊工業指數創下12年新低，但人們當時並不知道，未來股市下跌的幅度，都不會比這次還要嚴重，事隔一天，道瓊就開始重新振作，狂漲將近6%。到了2009年年底，就回到了10000點，雖然多年來，股市先後經歷過許多挑戰，像是2011年8月，標普宣布調降美國主權信用評級。
今年（2018年）2月，在利率與通膨雙升的威脅下，美股收盤再度全面收低，但美股似乎越挫越勇，從2009年3月至今，標普五百指數已經翻漲超過320%，而Netflix網飛等市場巨頭股價更是漲超5500%。不過，專家分析，美國民眾投資股市的比例，遠不及金融海嘯爆發前的水準，前10%的富豪掌握超過80%的股票價值，這將拉大美國的貧富差距，再加上美國總統川普與各國大打貿易戰和通貨膨脹的威脅，牛市還能維持多久？有待觀察。
