Egypt Tourist Destinations: Cairo and Dahabya

 As the capital of Egypt, its identity is based on thousands of years of history. This amazing city is full of life and its lively personality is unique. Churches in Cairo

 

Churches in Cairo are located mainly near the ruins of the Babylonian fortress in the old city of Cairo. Churches worth visiting are Al-Muaallaqa (Hanging) Church, Abu Sergah (St. Sergius) Church, Sitt Varvara (St. Barbara) Church, Abu Mina (St. Mena) Church, Abu Sefeyn (St. Macarius) Church, Al -Adra (Theotokos), the Church of Our Lady of Zaytun, the Church of Mari Girgis (Saint George) and the Cathedral of Al-Kiddis Morkos (Saint Mark). The Coptic Museum has a rare collection of ancient Christian relics such as architectural sections, icons, manuscripts and textiles.

 

Mosques in Cairo

 

Important mosques worth visiting in Cairo are Amr ibn al-Aas (Al-Fustat) Mosque, Ahmed ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque, Sultan Hassan Mosque, Al-Refai Mosque, Al-Moayed Mosque, Blue Mosque and Alabaster Mohammed Ali Mosque. Other Islamic attractions in the city are the fortress of Salah ad-Din (Saladin), the house of Gamal ad-Din ad-Dhahabi, the house of Gamal ad-Din ad-Dhahabi and the Museum of Islamic Art (Bab al-Din). -Hulk).

 



 

Modern structures

 

The National Cultural Center (Opera Theatre) is a 7-storey building built on the site of the old Opera House, which burned down forty years ago.
