此首《We're All Alone》為美國男歌手兼詞曲作家的Boz Scaggs所寫，收錄在他1976的專輯《Silk Degrees》中，並作為另首單曲《Lido Shuffle》的B面發行，此單曲在美、英排行榜分別獲得第11及第13名。在澳洲，此曲與另首《Lowdown》作為雙A面發行，但也只得到第54名(1977)。

此曲發行之後，受到了不少的注意，也即有多位的翻唱者，像是原四季合唱團的Frankie Valli、美國流行合唱團體The Walker Brothers、美國黑人女子合唱團體 The Three Degrees 等等，而真正將這首歌唱紅的，應該是美國女歌手Rita Coolidge於1977推出的版本。

據Rita Coolidge事後回憶，當時她簽約在A&M唱片公司，感覺像是在一個家庭，經常會去倆位老闆的房間串門子。某日在公司合夥人Jerry Moss的辦公室，Moss告訴她Boz Scaggs出了專輯的事，並認為其中的這首《We're All Alone》非常適合女生來唱，Rita Coolidge的版本於焉產生。在告示牌當代成人榜奪得了冠軍，在熱門榜則拿下了第7名；另在英國排行榜為第6名。

1970，Rita Coolidge在洛杉磯機場遇到了知名的歌手兼詞曲作家Kris Kristofferson，結果倆人竟然是搭同班機，Kris Kristofferson原本是要到Nashville，但為了Rita Coolidge，提前陪同在Memphis下機 。這招厲害，果然因此獲得了Rita Coolidge的芳心，倆人在1973結為連理。Rita Coolidge在1974及1976獲得了兩座葛萊美獎，而都是與夫婿合唱。倆人育有一女，之後在1980離異。2004，Rita Coolidge嫁給了一位日本教授Tatsuya Suda。
