Ellie Greenwich和Jeff Barry這對曾經的夫妻檔 ( 1962─1966 )，一起合作寫過不少膾炙人口的經典歌曲，像是《Da Doo Ron Ron》、《Then He Kissed Me》、《Be My Baby》等等，這首《Christmas ( Baby Please Come Home )》亦為該倆人所作 ( Phil Spector也共同掛名 )。此曲原本屬意由The Ronettes的團員Ronnie Spector來唱，依據Darlene Love的說法，由於Ronnie Spector未能將該表達的情緒注入歌曲，改由她瓜代成為了原唱者，此曲也是Darlene Love的招牌歌。

其實，此曲於1963推出時並未受到太多的關注，直到被許多知名樂團、歌手翻唱。其中包含有The Quiet Jungle樂團 ( 1968 )、U2樂團 ( 1987 )，歌手Mariah Carey也將此曲收錄在她1994的專輯中，2011獲得告示牌的數位歌曲榜第59名，在線上的銷售超過了20萬次。Cher，為當年Darlene Love版本的合音之一，也在36年後的1999，推出了她利用自動調音 ( Auto-Tune) 效果的跳舞版本，曲中主要歌唱的部份是Rosie O'Donnell。
