前兩天，在車上的收音機聽到了這首《Marvin Gaye》，感覺有些老歌的味道，回家後查了資料，竟然是2015的新歌，而且成績頗為亮眼，在英國、愛爾蘭及紐西蘭均獲得排行榜的冠軍。

寫這首歌的是現年23歲的美國歌手兼詞曲作家Charlie Puth ( 查理 普斯 )。之前此位仁兄將他與另位歌手Wiz Khalifa合作的歌曲《See You Again》( 電影《玩命關頭7》的片尾曲 ) 上傳到YouTube，不僅因而聲名大噪躍升為國際級的歌手，歌曲也大紅大賣。而在此首《Marvin Gaye》中與他合唱的女歌手Meghan Tarinor ( 梅根 崔娜 ) 更是當紅炸子雞，2015曾獲「年度最佳歌曲、唱片」兩項葛萊美獎的提名。



Marvin Gaye是60年代摩城 ( Motown ) 唱片公司旗下的著名歌手，有「摩城王子」和「靈魂樂王子」的稱號。可惜在45歲生日的前夕 ( 1984 )，在家中因發生爭執被父親開了二槍身亡。其父後以故意殺人罪被起訴，但由於檢查發現罹患了腦瘤，Marvin Gaye在驗屍時也發現體內有毒品藥物殘留，其父最後是被判了6年緩刑。



依據Charlie Puth的說法，他聽了不少Marvin Gaye的歌，Marvin Gaye後期緩慢抒情的節奏藍調和靈魂曲風，曾經深深打動了無數人的心靈，他除了也想作出同樣深情款款的歌曲，也希望歌曲能產生輔助的效果。他的想法是：由於自己的個性是屬於害羞靦腆型的，看到喜歡的女生也不敢上前搭訕要電話號碼。或許以後在收音機或酒吧中聽到這首歌，可以成為一個打破冷場的「梗」，藉此走向你/妳喜歡的對象說：『Hey! Let's Marvin Gaye and get it on.』。
