關於Bill Carter

1991年Bill Carter在旅遊途中，女友不幸在一場車禍中喪生，隨後從事人道救援的工作humanitarian aid (主要針對聯合國或國際紅十字會未到之處，提供物資及藥品)，讓Bill Carter進入了巴爾幹半島的糾亂中

Carter在波士尼亞的塞拉耶佛(Sarajevo，玻西尼亞澤哥維那共和國首都)六個月，感受塞拉耶佛人被賽族(Serbs，塞爾維亞人)圍攻前，他們只是想維持原有的生活，並拒絕種族的分裂及對抗，Carter深受塞拉耶佛人的啟發而促成他拍了這部記錄片

Bill開始在塞拉耶佛電視台工作，他安排訪談Bono(國際知名音樂團體U2主唱)，Bono也深受Bill的故事感動並表示願到塞拉耶佛演唱，但避免大型粉司集會而遭塞爾維亞主義者的攻擊，Carter因而決定，與其"bringing U2 to Sarajevo"，倒不如"bring Sarajevo to U2"，在U2’s Zoo TV Tour 演唱會中以衛星直播的方式，讓塞拉耶佛人有一個機會告訴全世界他們的故事，這就是Bill Carter所執導的紀錄片Miss Sarajevo

★    塞拉耶佛（Sarajevo）的地理位置及簡介：

塞拉耶佛（Sarajevo）位於狄那裡克阿爾卑斯山脈塞拉耶佛山谷，是波士尼亞、赫塞哥維納（Bosnia and Herzegovina）的首都和最大的城市，也是波赫聯邦的首都及塞族共和國的法理首都，同時還是塞拉耶佛州的行政中心。塞拉耶佛以宗教多樣性而著稱， 伊斯蘭教、天主教、東正教和猶太教在此已共處了許多世紀。

塞拉耶佛曾在15世紀被奧斯曼帝國佔領，由於當地種族關係複雜，塞拉耶佛自20世紀以來一直是世界關注的焦點。1914年6月28日奧匈帝國王儲斐迪南大公及其儲妃在塞拉耶佛被一名塞爾維亞青年鎗殺身亡，事件隨後引發了第一次世界大戰。1992年春季，針對當地穆斯林的種族清洗戰爭使這座城市幾近半毀。

波士尼亞赫塞哥維納獨立當時約430 萬人口，民族的組成為33%的塞爾維亞人，另外有17%的克羅埃西亞人及44%的波士尼亞克人想要和塞爾維亞人分離。因此從同年4月開始進行了長達3年半 以上的戰爭。兩者紛爭的結果造成了約20萬人死亡，難民和逃難的民眾約有200萬人。
