美國總統歐巴馬(Barack Obama)在全球反恐時刻，仍撥空接見上一季NBA總冠軍聖安東尼奧馬刺隊，不改他想支持誰就說什麼的個性，不僅說對於一個公牛迷來說要恭喜對方拿下冠軍已經很不容易，而且還表示自己也考慮輪休，讓副總統來接見馬刺，就像總教練波波維奇(Gregg Popovich)有時讓老將關機那樣。

歐巴馬讚賞馬刺展現的團隊精神，認為他們的成功值得美國人民借鏡，不過也不忘搞笑表示，「我必預承認為我是公牛迷，要在白宮祝賀非公牛隊奪冠從來不是件容易的事，那是我現在已經能做到的事。」他擔任美國總統已有6年多，公牛隊至今尚未奪冠。
此外這位個人風格鮮明的國家領導人再表示，「本來我想請副總統代替我出席，讓我可以養精蓄銳處理其他事情，這是我學Pop(波波維奇)的，他有時讓他的明星球員休息。」眾人聽到這句話不免會心一笑，而波波維奇則回應，「我讓主將休息，後來被罰錢啦，但總統應該不用被罰。」
