Metropolitan Museum is a place u have to go when u are in New York. Not only is Met one of the landmarks of New York, but also is it the representative of fusion of different cultures. The ticket price is 15 for a adult, 7 for a student or child, but everyday is donation day, u can just pay much less than that to purchase a kind of pin, which means u have paid the fee, with a capital "M" on it.
After going upstair, getting into the main entrance and buying a ticket, then u can start ur time and space travel. On ur right hand side is the exhibition hall of acient Egypt, which is full of thousands kind of relics. The most magnificent thing is that u can see a great temple, which maybe the real one removed from Egypt or just a duplicate, standing upright there in front of ur eyes.
On ur left hand side is Greek and Roman hall, there are lots of sculptures in it. After visiting Egypt hall, u will wonder that why there were two so different cultures and arts in the world at the almost same age, the art of Egypt is mysterious but the art of Greek and Roman is kind of holy.
Leaving Greek and Roman hall u will get into another exhibition room of African Art, which looks wild, uncontrollable and untamable. U can see many masks which are mimesis of natural phenomenons, invisible superpower, and gods and spirits. Otherwise, on the first floor, u can see many mediaeval stuff about Christianity.
On the second floor, u can see the art of Europe, Mid East and Asia. Especially, I was fascinated by the paintings of Picasso and Monet whose I had no chance to see when I was in Taiwan. Unfortunately, I had no much time to be there, even just took a look at each of them I still spent three hours. So if u guys want to go, I suggest u should go there as early as possible, because it is closed at 9:00pm and the crew will try to expel u out at 8:45.
