There is a rising trend in Paypal phishing scams. The newest Paypal spoof I received warns me that my Paypal account is stopped. I-t asks me to restore complete access to my account by logging in to Paypal. I'm delivered to an internet site that looks exactly like the PayPal login page, when I click on the link provided in the mail. However the link does not head to Paypal.

This is actually the link shown in the email I received.

When you click the link it really requires you to a phisers site.

It is generally speaking not advisable to click links within an mail. Make sure that you are signing to the Paypal site by looking at the target location part of your browser, if you do.

Contact your bank or credit card issuers immediately to prevent identity theft, when you have already responded to the e-mail. Should you desire to test your Paypal account status, by hand sort PayPal's address in to your browser and log in normally.

I was in a position to tell that it was a spoof email as the email began with Dear PayPal member.' Paypal can always address you by your first and last name. They will never send you a message and handle you as Dear PayPal member or such.

Another way to tell if a message is from Paypal is always to go through the full header. To get different viewpoints, we recommend people take a view at: here. The email header is the indication of perhaps the email is from Paypal or-not. When looking at the header it will say who sent the e-mail in the first two lines. If you think anything, you will seemingly need to compare about sponsors. Case in-the latest spoof e-mail I received it originated in

Return-Path: lester@server.ravin.net

Received: from http://server.ravin.net

If it doesnt say that it passed through Paypals server, then you know the email is really a spoof. The FBI is actively investigating these spoofs, so please report any suspicious messages by sending them to spoof@paypal.com. You can also file a complaint with the Internet Fraud Complaint Center at http://www1.ifccfbi.gov/strategy/howtofile.asp.. If you are concerned with finance, you will possibly hate to research about https://www.tyler-collins.com.
