Itozaki Kimio / FOTOMO x CITY Multi-Perspective Sx Editions
Invented by the Japanese artist Itozaki Kimio, "FOTOMO" (Photography + Model) is a reconstruction of street scenes by using three-dimensional photographic collages.
Japanese hot spots like the Takeshita Dori, shopping districts, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and rushing pedestrians will emerge in Hong Kong as FOTOMO in The Pao Gallery of the Hong Kong Arts Centre.
Itozaki Kimio is a professional photographer. He has been exhibiting his FOTOMO works since 1983, and in 2003, he won the 19th Annual Higashikawa New Photographer Prize, which was a recognition for his FOTOMO exploration. Itozaki Kimio's "Impersonal Art Institution" also tries to redefine the meaning of art, which he claims should be started from the streets and explored by the audience.
Buildings, streets and pedestrians are the primary subject matters of Itozaki Kimio's FOTOMO works. He captures the urban scenery from various camera angles, arranges the photographs in a three-dimensional collage and reproduces the city in mini size. In the twenty-first century where technology and virtual spaces dominate, such traditional handicrafts are a rare treat.
Itozaki Kimio will visit Hong Kong and start a series of FOTOMOs on Hong Kong's streets and city life. He will also introduce his idea and the production process of FOTOMO in the Discovery! On-the-Street Photography Seminar. Don't miss it!
