騎士鎖定分區冠軍以及東區第二，季賽剩餘4場，對詹姆斯（LeBron James）來說，意義並不大。據ESPN的消息，詹姆斯暗示會缺席接下來的2場比賽。

騎士落後第一的老鷹8場勝差，領先第三、四位的暴龍和公牛5場勝差，結果已不會改變，所以為了季後賽考慮，詹姆斯選擇休息非常明智。

只是這兩戰對手都是塞爾提克，詹姆斯的缺席可能會造成比較大的影響。塞爾提克很有可能會全力以赴贏下比賽，他們排名東區第七，戰績與第八的籃網持平，相互勝負關係在前。如果這個排名維持不變，季後賽騎士將和塞爾提克相遇。

詹姆斯本季平均25.5分、7.4助攻、6.0籃板、4失誤、1.6抄截，命中率49%。較之往年略有下降，但是他上場與否直接影響騎士的勝負，他出賽球隊49勝18負；他缺席時騎士只有2勝9負。
