（中央社記者唐佩君台北4日電）外交部今天表示，英國國會「英國會小組」3位共同主席發表聯合聲明，支持台灣持續參與ICAO大會及相關區域性會議，中華民國政府對此表示誠摯感謝。
外交部晚間發布新聞稿，「台英國會小組」3位共同主席包括下哪裡買議院議員伊凡斯（Nigel Evans）、上議院議員福克納勳爵（Lord Faulkner）及史蒂爾勳爵（Lord Steel）在10月3日發表聯合聲明，對於台灣政府未受邀出席今年「國際民航組織（ICAO）第39屆大會」深表遺憾，堅信這是國際社會一大損失，並支持台灣持續參與ICAO大會及相關區域性會議；中華民國政府對此表示誠摯感謝。
這項聯合聲明指出，ICAO成立旨在符合全世界人民安全、正常、有效率及經濟的航空運輸需求；台灣所管轄的台北飛航情報區涵蓋18萬平方浬，每年提供近153萬航管架次服務，進出旅客多達5800萬人次，而主要機場桃園國際機場的國際客運及貨運量分別為全球第11名及第5名，所以台灣須參與ICAO大會，以確保飛航運行符合最新國際標準，並獲取ICAO提供的技術性及學術性協助。
「台英國會小組」共同主席伊凡斯下議院議員則在9月26日至10月2日，率英國國會上、下議院議員一行10人應邀訪問台灣，停留期間接受媒體專訪時指出，許多國家支持台灣參與ICAO大會，但結果令人遺憾，並強調台灣較3年前更為重要且更應參與ICAO。
「台英國會小組」多年來對於提升台英關係不遺餘力，致力支持台灣務實參與國際組織。近年來台英實質關係密切，英國國會及行政部門均肯定台灣對於維護全球飛航安全的貢獻，並共同支持台灣參與ICAO。1051004
