I Shouldn’t Be Alive - Dive into Danger (complete)

One fine boring Sunday afternoon, i turned on the TV and watched a really interesting and motivating documentary titled: "I Shouldn't Be Alive". Even though that was around 3 weeks ago, I could still remember the different moments of danger these 2 divers went through.

Didn't have the thought to pen it down while I was sharing this documentary with a colleague and he listened in disbelief. I know I'm not a good story-teller but this documentary is motivating enough to keep me staying positive, irregardless of the world and the environment I am in.

Background: Dive into Danger
Two divers went diving in the sea in the morning. As they rose to the surface to board the yatch that brought them out to the sea, the yatch was nowhere within their reach! Although they can spot the yatch, it was far from where they are! No one on the yatch could hear their shouts irregardless of the attention they tried to gather! It was not long before they saw the yatch driving away from where they are and then the drivers realized they are stuck in the open sea! (But why was the yatch drove back to shore when the 2 divers were nowhere to be found? The oil tank/gas was low and if the yatch was not driven back, everyone on the yatch will be stuck the open sea as well!)

The 2 divers stared in disbelief when they saw the yatch driving away from them and soon disappear. The male diver convinced himself that the yatch was turning back the shore to seek help and timed they should be back in the next 4 hours. While he makes this estimation, he wanted to conserve his energy and remain where they are. Little known to them was, 4 hours of staying afloat in the open sea, the divers have drifted away miles from their initial spot.

As the drivers stay constantly alert of the predators under the sea, 4 hours is up and there are no signs of a yatch. The drivers then decided to swim towards the shore, with one looking beneath the sea and one keeping a look out above the sea surface. One of the drivers recalled: “Spending hours in the open sea waiting for help in vain, I started to hallucinate. I thought I saw the fin of a shark on the sea surface!” Panicking, on a second look, there’s none.

The drivers then continued to swim and suddenly they were going like ‘Ouch! Ouch!”  It’s only upon putting on their goggles that they realized there were many small little bubble-like jelly fish in the sea. The divers decided to swim across this pool of jelly fishes. By then, they were already suffering from cuts throughout the whole body. Unwilling to give up, these two divers continue to swim towards the shore.

Very soon, the skies turned dark. The two divers had to spend a night out on the open sea! Not giving up, they continued swimming. Suddenly, one of the divers realized while they’re swimming, they give out signs of lights (which was later explained as a result of the jelly fish bites earlier) One of the divers decide to stop swimming afraid that the lights will attract other sea predators. Once they stop swimming, their body temperature drops and both began telling each other their last words. It is until quite a while later that they began to see the sun. The divers recalled themselves overjoyed and exclaimed: “That’s the most beautiful sunrise I’ve ever seen!” By then, they have already swum across the sea for almost 20 miles if I’ve not gotten the figure wrong. It’s amazing to see them high on spirits again, feeling determined to swim to the shore!

It’s after a few hours that they finally spotted the shore! This makes them all the more determined to swim to the shore! As they get nearer to the shore, it gets more dangerous for them as they have a higher probability of getting into contact with sharks! They came into a close encounter with a shark but escaped without being attacked! Phew~~~

Then, they heard the sound of a motor boat near them and the next very next moment, they were rescued onto the small boat!

It was only a line between life and death and I must say, this is really a journey these 2 divers will never forget for the rest of their life.

Not all of us have a chance to go through something so extraordinary like the above. Life is pretty much stagnant for me and work is never near satisfying. I want to make a switch to a new job, to something that is more satisfying, but yet am constrained due to the current economy downturn. Work is perhaps the only motivating factor to keep me striving hard. I want the best of both worlds, having a satisfying job with a good pay. Now I’m seriously pondering, am I too greedy?

I know what I want now, but somehow opportunities don't always come your way, do they?
