閱讀 “Rainbow Connection”
（「點水名字」之八）

前天是上司榮休的晚宴，作為教育家，她春風化雨，孩子的歌唱和感言叫酒家的女侍應也不禁哭起來，更莫說是她了。她是個基督徒，如一位家長所說，一個人盡心去辦教育，是配得上帝和各人稱讚的。我有幫手製作回顧短片，翻看了十多年來的照片，看見她和一班同事的轉變，當然也有一些已經離開了我毫不認識。那些日子我還只是個小孩，而相片竟然能夠帶我回到她的過去，很不可思議。最深刻的一個念頭是，這些年來，她是怎樣捱過去的？上一輩的精神和魄力，在年輕人身上已是稀有了。
昨日香港遊行下雨和熱汗，短短幾年間，人和事在濕熱中變化，憂慮於是捍衛。變化向好向壞，沒有人能一時間看清楚，但大概可以想像。我不喜歡變化吧，離開學校仍繼續拾起書本來，去講述它的福音；而友人鏗，這天重聚已是一身西裝，即將上大陸去闖他的事業。我們知道香港的環境，八十後再上進也不容易晉升。閒談之間，尚有昔日重視的話題，談及人的價值。社會急遽的變化沒有影響他的看法，我知道他能保守這一點。工作只能勞役他的軀體，他的心靈仍在熱情地歌唱。
有人退休，有人起步，都紮根於生活，生活的變化如浪花打磨石塊，圓潤的或尖峭的形狀如今都無法預知。別後再見不知怎樣的光景，但有緣認識已經是奇妙的連結了。
給上司那段短片的背景歌曲，選用了Carpenters “Rainbow
Connection”的版本，是另一位同事建議的，我喜歡這首歌，特別那句“Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the
dreamers, and me.” 人生最美麗的追尋是愛和夢，而美好的關係正是愛人、尋夢者與自己。當我在網上尋找這首歌時，又發現關正傑有它的中文版，由盧國沾填詞，而我欣賞的羅敏莊曾經翻唱過，叫〈明日再明日〉。
明日再明日。
我們也有我們的晚宴。
