日常生活對話中常見的問句，看起來很簡單， 但用錯一個詞，可能你講出來的就是錯誤的英文。

1：她確切年齡是幾歲？

╳What is her accurate age？

○What is her exact age？

年齡不適合用正確或精確來形容，而是用exact，著重在質與量方面的準確。

2：這週過得如何？

╳How are you this week？

○How have you been this week？

This week指這一週，持續一段時間，所以要用完成式。

3：你要不要待久一點？

╳Why don't you stay more time？

○Why don't you stay a little longer？

雖然中文說多留一點時間，譯成英文還是要說stay longer。

4：我和朋友出去玩。

╳I played with my friends.

○I hung / went out with my friends.

Play with friends是指小孩子玩耍，成人出去遊玩應說hang / go out with friends。此外也可以用have fun, enjoy oneself等表達方式。

5：他10分鐘之後會到。

╳He will be here after ten minutes.

○He will be here in ten minutes.

當你要表達在一段時間內某個動作可以完成時，一定要用in，而不能用after，因為after是指在某一時間之後，after ten minutes是指10分鐘以後的任何時間，20分鐘、30分鐘都有可能。例如：“This work will be done in two days.”即表明這件工作在兩天內一定會做完；而如果用了after，即表示在兩天之後，完成的時間是不確定的。

6：恭喜，你已經通過這項考試。

╳Congratulation！You have passed the test.

○Congratulations ！You have passed the test.

很多人會問為什麼祝賀要加“s”，以複數形式呈現？在英文裡，有些抽象名詞會以複數形式用來表示強調。像：congratulations、regards、respects、thanks、wishes、apologies、pities、kindnesses等。

7：這就是你弄錯的地方。

╳This is where you mistake.

○This is where you are mistaken.

Mistaken是形容詞，意思是「錯誤的」。

8：別把辦公室弄得亂七八糟。

╳Don't make the office out of order.

○Don't leave the office in a mess.

搞得亂七八糟，用leave...in a mess。
