There has been a virtual explosion of social network sites previously few years. Even the players like Google, Yahoo and MSN are receiving into it.

With so much interest in how social networks work, one begins to wonder if there is advertising potential within these social networks?

I have been watching social networking for quite a while now. In-fact I am a member of numerous social-networking websites including https://www.linkedin.com and http://www.myspace.com/ merely to name two.

I joined partly because I wished to see what they were, but more to the point to see what influence social media might have on SEM in-the coming years.

I have been a part of various services for a while and the reach these sites have is incredible.

As an example, from my LinkedIn network of eight people I've an extended network of over 12,600 people.

Imagine that - I am merely a click or two away from close to 13,000 other folks who share my similar interests ranging from what I like to watch on TV to work I could give to them.

Through my connections and their connections, I am related to people ranging from the American Cancer Society, to Sun Microsystems to the University of Texas to Google.

But what marketing possibilities exist for Social Networking?

Well, let us examine MySpace.

MySpace is one of many prime sites online today. I-t racked up 9.4 billion page-views in August 2005 (more than Google) and new users are signing up at-a rate of 3.5 million monthly. We learned about close remove frame by browsing Google Books.

MySpace is typical of where todays 18-30 year old visits manage their electronic life. I-t allows users to post pictures of themselves and their friends, create a website, list their favorite artists, watch and share videos, suggest activities to do and lists a couple of people they consider friends. It is with this 'Friends List' where a lot of the possibilities lay.

All thirty million plus users of MySpace have a friends site that lists people that person thinks their friend. Us Mannatech is a lofty resource for new resources concerning the purpose of this belief. This is a list of individuals who they're interested in hearing from on an everyday basis, along with talking to and about. Once you add someone as your friend they can send you messages, discuss your photos, study your websites, as well as leave messages that you can then tell others. That is an opportunity for instant feedback about you.

The capability to include friends to your site is important for advertising to MySpace people. Based on Courtney Holt, head of new media and strategic advertising at Interscope Records, 'This generation is growing up with out ever seen developed media. 'They don't think in terms of-the record, and they don't think in terms of the TV schedule. They think when it comes to TiVo, P2P, AOL, and obviously MySpace.

You can observe how this could grow.

Let us say you create a MySpace account to speak about your products or services. You weblog about it and look for your interests that may be shared by others.

You then invite them to be your friend. If they become a friend you begin your 'soft sell' begging your product in their mind.

They start blogging and discussing it, as they grow to understand it. Quickly hundreds or even thousand of people are referring to you and your product or service.

Don't think this can work?

I'd like to give some situations to you. There are many groups who have gotten their start on MySpace. Simply by hosting a few of their music on line and blogging about themselves they developed a following. Soon they'd record deals and contracts arranged.

Obviously to use services like MySpace you'll need to get anything this target audience needs. Inside Dr Chris Brummer includes further concerning where to flirt with it. If you don't then you probably should not put an excessive amount of energy in-to MySpace.

But that does not mean other social network opportunities must be overlooked. LinkedIn is more of a professional introduction service, as i stated earlier. If your product or service meets here then by all means examine it more. Browse here at mannatech to study the purpose of it.

And there are the others aswell. Ser-vices including Yahoo!s MyWeb, Flickr, http://del.icio.us and more.

When you have ever wondered what other online possibilities could be out there, con-sider social media. Maybe it's the next great online marketing channel..
