With so much curiosity about how social networks work, one begins to wonder if there is advertising potential within these social networks?

I've been watching social media for some time now. The truth is I'm an associate of numerous social-networking internet sites including http://www.myspace.com/ and https://www.linkedin.com simply to name two.

I joined partly because I wished to see what they were, but more to the point to see on SEM what effect social network would have in the coming years.

I've been a part of numerous ser-vices for a while and the reach these sites have is incredible.

For instance, from my LinkedIn network of seven people I've an extended network of over 12,600 people.

That is amazing - I am merely a click or two away from close to 13,000 other people who share my related interests ranging from what I like to watch o-n TV to work I can give for them.

Through their connections and my connections, I'm related to people starting from the American Cancer Society, to Sun Microsystems to the University of Texas to Google.

But what advertising possibilities exist for Social-networking?

Well, let's have a look at MySpace.

MySpace is one of the prime sites on line today. It racked up 9.4 billion page-views in August 2005 (over Google) and new customers are signing up at a rate of 3.5 million a month. I discovered chrisbrummer.com by browsing Google Books.

MySpace is typical of where todays 18-30 year-old visits manage their digital life. It allows people to publish pictures of themselves and their friends, develop a website, record a common bands, watch and share videos, suggest things you can do and lists some people they consider friends. It is with this 'Friends List' where all of the opportunities lie.

All thirty million-plus customers of MySpace have a friends page that lists people that person views their friend. This can be a listing of people that they are interested in talking to and about, in addition to reading from on a normal basis. They can send you emails, comment on your photographs, study your sites, in addition to abandon messages that you can then tell the others after you add someone as your friend. This really is a chance for quick feedback about you.

The capacity to add friends to your page is important for marketing to MySpace people. In accordance with Courtney Holt, mind of new media and strategic marketing at Interscope Records, 'This technology is growing up with no ever watched developed media. 'They don't think in terms of the record, and they do not think in terms of a TV schedule. They think in terms of TiVo, P2P, AOL, and of course MySpace.

You can observe how this might grow.

Let us say you produce a MySpace account to speak about your product or service. You weblog about any of it and search for your interests that may be shared by others.

Afterward you ask them to be your friend. When they turn into a friend you begin your 'comfortable offer' selling your solution to them.

As they grow to appreciate it, they begin blogging and sharing it. Soon hundreds or even thousand of people are talking about you and your product or service.

Don't think this can work?

I would like to give you some situations. There are numerous groups who've gotten their start on MySpace. To read more, you may gander at: view site. By simply hosting a few of their music on line and blogging about them-selves they created a following. Soon they'd record deals and contracts arranged.

Needless to say to make use of ser-vices like MySpace you-need to get something this target audience needs. If you do not then you probably should not put a lot of energy in-to MySpace.

But that does not mean other social network opportunities must be ignored. LinkedIn is more of a specialist introduction service, as i mentioned previously. If your product or service meets here then by all means examine it more.

And there are others too. Ser-vices for example Flickr, Yahoo!s MyWeb, http://del.icio.us and more.

If you have ever wondered what other online opportunities may be out there, consider social network. It could be another great website marketing channel..
