Life (2) Teacher’s Guide 歡迎入內選購北極星藥業-KY（6550）昨（16)日宣布，已正式向美國FDA提交ADI-PEG 20聯合FOLFOX（目前中國核准肝癌一線用藥）治療肝癌的關鍵性臨床試驗申請，將力拚2018年完成收案，並接提出新藥查驗登記審查（NDA），搶攻每年近百萬病患的肝癌市場。
根據統計，預估到2020年全球每年有95萬人以上罹患肝癌，市場商機約有200～300億美元。北極星的ADI-PEG 20聯合FOLFOX治療肝癌的一期臨床試驗是在全球最大癌症研究機構－紐約紀念斯隆－凱特琳癌症中心進行。目前已收錄22位，試驗結果顯示，病患疾病控制率達59％、病患腫瘤反應率達22.7％，優於標準一線療法雷沙瓦6倍以上。
北極星表示，肝癌病患一般伴隨肝硬化或肝炎的症狀，相較其它癌症，腫瘤不易縮小，標準一線療法雷沙瓦對肝癌腫瘤縮小的腫瘤反應率僅3～4％。
ADI-PEG 20聯合FOLFOX治療肝癌明顯地腫瘤反應率及疾病控制率的療效，該結果已於今年1月在美國舊金山ASCO肝及腸胃道腫瘤研討會中發表。
北極星表示，此次的臨床試驗是依據以上的試驗數據，設計單臂、無對照組並以修改原一期臨床試驗設計之方案，將一期臨床試驗延伸為關鍵性全球臨床試驗。
該試驗將於美國、英國、義大利、台灣、中國等國家進行，目前規劃收錄169位病人，台灣則在台北榮總、馬偕、成大、高雄長庚、林口長庚、三總等六家醫學中心收錄肝癌病人。預計若整體臨床試驗達到預定療效，即可向FDA申請藥證。
這次北極星的臨床試驗跳脫原本新藥開發須經臨床Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ期繁複且冗長時程，以不同的實驗設計爭取到只要一期臨床試驗延伸的關鍵性全球臨床試驗做完，國內新藥廠商而言是個創舉。
